A Brief History of the Patient
This patient with a history of osteomyelitis came to PrimeCare Orthotics & Prosthetics seeking a solution for his amputated leg. His right foot, which never properly healed, ultimately had to be amputated. After careful evaluation, our team developed a treatment plan tailored to the patient’s specific needs and challenges.
Prosthetics Journey
The patient's journey began with a referral from the Southwest Bone Joint Institute. After assessing his limb, our experienced specialists crafted a custom-fit socket and a prosthetic device, allowing for precise adjustments.
Committed to providing comprehensive care, we ensured the patient's rehabilitation progressed effectively, considering his previous experience of physical therapy and his prior level of physical activity, as his interests included backpacking, hiking, and whitewater rafting.
Results
Through our collaborative efforts, the patient achieved positive outcomes and regained a significant level of functionality. He surpassed traditional expectations by expediting his rehabilitation timeline, reducing his reliance on a walker sooner than anticipated.
As a testament to his determination and a quicker-than-usual progression in his rehabilitation and adaptation to a prosthetic leg, the patient successfully resumed his favorite activities, including hiking. He was able to work a house and even showcased his talent as a musician, delivering an impressive guitar performance on stage.
